Receiving the check for the Commission are Paul Smith (right), chairman, and Jim Hastings, recreation director. Rev. Peter G. Madson Leaves Blowing Rock The Rev. Peter G. Madson, Vicar of St. Mary’s of the Hills in Blowing Rock, has accepted a call from St„ Margaret’s Mis sion in Inverness, Fla., and will be leaving Blowing Rock after the morning service Sunday, Sept. 24. The new pastor of St. Mary’s erf the Hills will be the Rev. Floyd William Finch Jr., who recently resigned as Rector of Holy Comforter Episcopal Church in Charlotte, where he has been since 1959. His com ing to Blowing Rock will en able him to attend Appalach ian State University at Boone and obtain a Master’s degree in education and school admini stration, after which he will become the Head Master at Patterson School for Boys, a preparatory school sponsored by the Episcopal Diocese of Western North Carolina. The Rev. Finch was gradu ated from the Virginia Theo logical Seminary in 1954 and was ordained a priest in 1955. He married the former Leona Sutherland and they have four children. While serving at the Holy Comforter Church, he served as director of the Mecklenburg Conference of Christians and Jews and chairman of the long range planning committee of the Charlotte Council of Episo pal Churches and was the official Chaplain for the Caro linas' Carrousel in 1967. The Episcopal Churchwomen of St. Mary’s of the Hills are planning a farewell luncheon after Mr. Madson’s last ser vice and it is hoped that Mr. Finch will be able to attend. Senior Citizens To Have Monthly Meet The Senior Citizens of Wa tauga County will hold their regular montly meeting at 12:30 p. m. Friday, Sept. 15, at the First Methodist Church in Boone. Mrs. Perry and Mrs. Roland will be in charge and have planned an interesting meeting,, The next monthly meeting will be held at the home of Dr. and Mrs. Kephart, near Camp Yonahlosse Oct. 13 which is the second Friday in October.
